Friday 5/20/2011, The Civil Ceremony

Friday, was the actual wedding day. Scheduled for noon at Fiesole Town Hall, Marc and Lauren are headed off to do some preliminary pictures with the photographer. .And I had some conversation with wedding planner extraordinaire, Valentina . Jason and Carolyn hosted us all Thursday night at a great cocktail party in downtown Florence.

The ancient (Etruscan/Roman) town of Fiesole is about 6km northeast of Florence city center. It's a short drive from Villa di Maiano where Saturday's celebration was held and where the wedding party and many of the guests stayed.

Many of us headed for Town Hall about 11.30 and gathered outside to await the bride and groom

And on the dot of noon...ok, so it wasn't...they arrived.
The ceremony was administrated by the woman with the sash and assisted by a colleague as well as Valentina. Two witnesses, Carolyn (Maid of Honor) and Tomasso Mizzoni (Best Man) flanked the bride and groom.

Carolyn's signature on the marriage certificate was the final act and Dr. and Mrs. Bonaca turned to greet the crowd. A view from the pretty balcony where the ceremony had taken place.. We finished the day with an informal lunch back at Villa Maiano and began to make preparations for Saturday's big event..

  1. Such a lovely wedding! It was sweet and simple. I am also getting married like this. I have some nice wedding venues Los Angeles in my mind that have outdoor arrangements and it will be lovely to sit in the sun with all the loved ones.
